LA PUENTE – Gina Jojola addressed an eager crowd of more than 300 Bassett High School students, telling how she became a California Highway Patrol officer and why it is the dream job she never knew she wanted.
“I keep people safe,” Jojola said. “I love my job and that is what today is all about for you high school students – connecting with professionals who are already doing what you yourself want to achieve.”
Students connected with 50 community-based experts, college representatives and industry professionals who shared lessons on soft skills, job success and relationship-building during Bassett High School’s Mentor Expo on March 8.
“Today is a great opportunity for all of us to learn about the career we want,” junior Natalia Urbina said. “I mean, who knows? Maybe someone who thought they wanted to go into art will find their passion in business – that is really what makes today exciting.”
