Celebrating 50 Years of IDEA
This year marks the 50th Anniversary of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), the landmark federal law that guarantees students with disabilities the right to a free appropriate public education in the least restrictive environment. Since its passage in 1975, IDEA has transformed public education by opening doors of access, equity, and opportunity for millions of students and their families. As we reflect on this milestone, we celebrate the progress made and reaffirm our commitment to ensuring that every student continues to thrive through inclusive practices, individualized supports, and high expectations.
